WIP: Valiant Afghan in Blues Update 3

It looks like two separate afghans.

The color shift is just too much contrast.

On its own the pink, purple, & white would make a nice afghan.

I had set this aside, because I just wasn't happy with the color combination. The blues were so relaxing and the pink went fine with them, but the purple and white just hurt my eyes to look at. After consulting with a couple of friends I was going to change out the purple and white for a burgundy and another shade of pink. As luck would have it I was a little busy this past week and did not take the time to rip out the offensive colors.  Another friend tipped me that Walmart had a yarn I was in search of for a different WIP.  There I discovered the coveted Blue! I was so happy, but they only had two skeins. At least now I know the brand and color to look for if this doesn't finish the afghan.

WIP: Valiant Afghan in Blues Update 2

I was able to crochet one row of the pink on today. What do you think of the color combination?

More updates after I get the afghan further along.

WIP: Valiant Afghan in Blues Update

I have been making decent progress with this afghan. Unfortunately I have run out of the bright blue that I am using as the middle color. After going to several local stores and finding absolutely nothing even close in color I have been racking my brain to figure out what to do. Last night as I was trying to fall asleep I received the answer to change colors completely. I have not decided which colors, but am leaning toward a pink, purple, white combination. I will make the same amount of rows with that and then chose three different colors to finish off with. I first need to rip out the last row of Navy on the right side of the picture to make the pattern even. Stay tuned next week for the results of the new colors.

Baby Blanket for Dylan

I made this baby blanket a couple of years ago for a friend's expected grandchild.
I love the pattern, because it is not the same rectangle or square that you can buy in a store. The star gives you peaks and valleys that you can tuck in and around babies, car seats, and such.

I no longer have the pattern, but there are plenty of free star blanket patterns available on line. The yarn was a Bernat Baby Yarn that I also cannot find. That is disappointing, because I really liked it's gender neutral colors.
I hope that this inspires some one else to work outside the box and create a one of a kind gift. Update: While going through my yarn stash I found a ball of this yarn! It is Bernat Softee Baby in Garden Ombre.
